Alex Moll and Georg Popp founded the Oman Shop together in 2009. It was their aim to disseminate information about this not very well-known Arab country and to import authentic products from there.

Georg Popp is a proven connoisseur of Oman. After several longer stays in the Sultanate, he published the first German-language travel guide about this country as early as the beginning of the nineties. Only a few years before, foreigners were not allowed to travel to the Sultanate. Together with his friend Juma Al-Maskari, whom he had met in Munich as a student, this was possible at all. Georg Popp retired from the Oman Shop at the end of 2022, but remains on friendly terms with me and the company.

In 2001, Alex Moll and Georg Popp showed art from the Sultanate in Germany for the first time. A travelling exhibition through German adult education centres with information boards about the country, which is completely unknown here, and works of art from there brought the people in Germany a little closer to the Sultanate. After many visits to the Sultanate of Oman, Alex Moll now appreciates and loves this country very much. And over the years of dealing with this incense, he himself has become an expert. He has sifted and sorted several tons of frankincense himself. "I will never forget this fragrance," he says.

We mainly offer frankincense and frankincense products from the Sultanate of Oman, which stands for the highest quality all over the world. We also import incense blends (bakhoor) from Oman. In general, we only want to offer you products of very high quality, as we feel that this is the only way to do justice to this country and its people. We have also started to produce products from frankincense here in Germany in a quality that was unknown until now. But this can only succeed with this special frankincense from Oman. Try our frankincense oil, the hydrolate or also the frankincense liqueur. We also import products made in the Sultanate of Oman, which reflect the craftsmanship of the Omanis.

Newspaper reports and television reports in this country often spread incomplete or even incorrect information about the Sultanate. We want to counteract this fact by offering the Oman Shop. Therefore, you will also find books on very specific topics, because we want you to be able to inform yourself about the country of Oman in all its range and depth.
Our aim is to make all books published in Oman and other Arab countries about the Sultanate accessible in Europe. This is sometimes not easy and requires some effort.
