Frankincense from the Oman-Shop - a promise of quality

Oman-Shop has been importing frankincense from the Sultanate of Oman since 2009. As the owner, I have friends in Oman who buy for me, so I don't have to rely on frankincense dealers.
Our frankincense is harvested in the higher-lying scree desert and shipped to Germany unsorted in 40 kg bags.

That is something special. This is the only way to be sure that we receive pure, high-quality frankincense "al-hojari" from wild-growing trees. Our friends buy directly from families who own frankincense trees in the scree desert in a particular valley. A few years ago, we had a test analysed for harmful substances, which proved that our frankincense is not contaminated. As we always buy from the same valley, we only have to repeat this every few years. However, we cannot provide any proof of hygiene, which is of interest to those who chew or ingest frankincense. Neither can other incense dealers. We therefore import our frankincense in the "incense" category.

Because we work closely with a pharmacist, we have been labelling our imports with batch numbers for around 2 years. We therefore separate frankincense from different deliveries and can specify the import time.

Can you see the difference?

Yes, you can! We import raw frankincense directly without any middlemen. This means that our frankincense is not pre-sorted in Oman. You will be familiar with the offer from other shops: small white, yellow, silver or light brown pieces of frankincense without bark or other "impurities". But every customer who buys already sorted frankincense in Oman accepts the risk of buying mixed frankincense from different places, times or even different countries (such as Somalia or Ethiopia) and knows this. Foreign workers are cheap in Oman and so their frankincense arrives in Germany sorted by size and colour. The large, slightly darker pieces typical of the country are not popular in Germany, even though the size of the resin chunks is proof of their origin in the Sultanate of Oman and is highly valued there.

"But these pieces of bark really interfere with the incense!"

Our incense looks different. We can't use our hourly wages here to sort the raw frankincense so finely by colour, nor can we sort out the small pieces of bark or the thin paper-like bark. We sell a natural product and people should be able to see that. We don't mind if a little bark is also smoked. It intensifies the smoking experience. If you don't want that at all, you just have to remove the bark. As the bark is very light, it hardly makes a difference to the weight.
